Development of smartphone-based imaging techniques for the estimation of chlorophyll content in lettuce leaves

Leaf color is a good indicator of plant’s health status. In this study, new image acquisition technique was developed to estimate chlorophyll content lettuce leaves. The images leaves grown under artificial light were acquired using smartphone. Leaves captured by directly attached the camera lens with aid background illumination from SMD LED. Red, green, blue (RGB) indices extracted and some vegetation also calculated. Then, correlation between these obtained SPAD502 meter evaluated. Significant found all R2 ranging 0.63 0.85 except for G B RGB component. Highly significant (VI) (R2 = 0.85) lowest root mean square error (RMSE) 8.07 g chlorophyll/100 fresh tissue.
